Makeup Goodies Worth Checking Out If “Glowy” Is Your Vibe

Matte is classic, but glowy is the future — and no one will convince me otherwise.

So you, like me, are ready to enter your dewy phase, read on! I’m breaking it all down and don’t fret, there are plenty of non-glittery options for the sparkle-averse.

So let’s break it down! For every product, I’ll share the pros and cons (of real testing!), along with a price point. No gatekeeping here— I’ll tell ya the truth, so you can find what’s best for YOU.

Saie Glowy Super Gel

My obsession runs deep — four bottles deep, to be exact. If you love glow over glitter, this formula’s for you. Easy to apply and blend out (just dab-dab-dab with your finger!), and plays nice with everything you layer under or over it.

Pros: You can add more (and more) without worrying about it getting patchy or looking sparkly. A tiny amount goes far and it looks amazing both on the face and the bod. You can also use it a bunch of different ways: as a primer, a highlighter, or a glow-inducing addition to your fave foundation.

Cons: If you don’t use it for a while, the formula can separate so make sure to give ‘er a good shake beforehand.

Tower 28 Bronzino Illuminating Cream Bronzer

I am a bronzing noob — do not ask me to contour, bake, or underpaint. So I love that these lil’ compacts are incredibly easy to use with v, v, flattering results (even if you use your fingers like I do). It looks much sparklier in the tin, but once it’s on the face, it melts right in. And it’s easy to blend!

Pros: Fragrance-free, solid compact that’s perfect for travel. It looks small, but because it’s really, really pigmented, it’ll last you a while. The addition of green tea makes it extra soothing and safe for everyone to use — if you have reactive skin or eczema!

Cons: Can get a little dry if you don’t use it regularly (solve this by warming it up with your fingers before dabbing it on).

Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint

My most favourite complexion product. No brushes or sponges necessary here, because this stuff goes on like a total dream. It’s sheer enough to blend flawlessly in with your complexion (I tried two shades — both worked!). I adore the luminous finish.

Pros: Packed with squalane and hyaluronic acid so your skin won’t dry out during the day. Fragrance-free and completely non-pilling, no matter what I’ve slathered on underneath. Adding more will give you additional coverage, meaning you can customize the finish.

Cons: Pricey.

Merit Shade Slick Gelée Sheer Tinted Lip Oil

Woo, boy, am I glad I got to test these!!!! Sheer and infused with blooming pigments? Yes, please. This stuff is honestly so light, I forgot I was wearing it — until I caught a glimpse of my smoocher in the mirror and DAMN.

Pros: All shades are designed to flatter all skin tones, so you can stock up with confidence. Despite its lightweight finish, my lips felt hydrated and soft all day long.

Cons: If you’re new to lip oils, you may be surprised by its light texture. If you prefer something with a thick, glossy texture, you’re best off searching for something else.

Keys Soulcare Let Me Glow Illuminating Serum

I know it’s technically not a makeup product, but it IS meant as a priming serum, so I think that counts. It comes in a universal shade and sets the stage for all your dewy lewks (sans the glitter).

Pros: Contains soothing rosewater and niacinamide that’ll help soothe your face and even out your skin texture while you’re rocking it.

Cons: It’s obviously not as grippy as, say, a true makeup primer, but for those of us who aren’t keen on a multi-step beauty routine, this 2-in-1 is a great option.
